The municipality was constantly demanding charges from Fateh; at a time when land in Hasanabad cost three Qerans per meter, they were demanding four million Tomans from him. Since this case was large and complicated, it ended up in the judiciary, and it was finally decided that a meeting would be held at the municipality, attended by representatives from the Ministry of the Interior, the Treasury, Fateh, the municipality, and the city council. These groups were to clarify the case&#8217;s status. Dr. Homayoun insisted that I represent the city council at this meeting. I said I had a dispute with Fateh and it would be better if I did not attend, but he insisted. Eventually, the council held a meeting and voted for my attendance.<\/p><p>The meeting took place with the mayor, Mr. Fateh and his four lawyers, and other representatives present. It was a long session with much debate. I remained silent throughout; Fateh had not voted for me in the elections, which could lead to misconceptions. Finally, the mayor turned to me, stating that the municipality belonged to the city council, and we were the decision-makers, urging me to speak up. The other representatives also insisted on my input. I had thoroughly read the file the night before; the issue was that the municipality was not a creditor at all. I stated, &#8220;You are crying over a grave that holds no corpse; four years have been wasted, and Fateh has spent a significant amount on lawyers, while the municipality has no claim.&#8221;<\/p><p>This statement caused an uproar. The municipality&#8217;s lawyers asked for my argument, to which I replied, &#8220;The law.&#8221;<\/p><p>At that time, municipal charges were of two types, specific and general. Specific charges applied to an individual or a specific factory, and general charges applied to everyone. Specific charges had a forty-day objection period, and general charges had one week. Moreover, specific charges weren&#8217;t finalized with just the governor&#8217;s approval; the Ministry of Interior also needed to ratify them.<\/p><p>I explained that the charge was specific since it was imposed on Fateh alone for selling fabric four years ago, not on everyone who sold fabric. Only the governor had ratified this decision, not the Ministry of Interior, making it void. The municipality&#8217;s representatives hadn&#8217;t pursued the Ministry&#8217;s ratification, thinking the governor&#8217;s approval was sufficient. Fateh, who had objected within the legal timeframe, was unaware of this detail. On hearing this, Fateh was shocked, and his lawyers were embarrassed for pursuing the case for four years without result. Eventually, a minute was drafted, ending the dispute, and exempting Mr. Fateh from paying the four-million Toman charge.<\/p><p>Fateh&#8217;s agent, Mr. Haj Baghaei, who was also a friend of mine, told me after the incident that Fateh had said, &#8220;This Narimani knows a lot.&#8221; A week later, Baghaei invited me on Fateh&#8217;s behalf to a lavish lunch in my honor. Initially, I refused, citing our disagreement, but eventually accepted. Fateh wanted to compensate me by offering one of the villas he had built. I declined, saying, &#8220;I am victorious than Fateh; I earn a hundred single Tomans a day, spend ninety, and save ten. I am in need of no one but God. My life is about seeking societal respect, not wealth.&#8221;<\/p><p>My stance in the municipal meeting was to uphold justice, regardless of my personal differences with Fateh. This integrity impressed Fateh greatly. Months later, he invited me to manage a significant event he was hosting, filled with ministers, lawyers, generals, and military officers.
