Salt theft!

Some thieves went to rob a house; in the old days, sugar was very expensive, and they had heard that sugar was stored in that house. While searching in the darkness of the night, they found some white substances; the leader of the thieves tasted it to be sure they had found the sugar. After tasting, he tells his companions, “Let’s go, we won’t stay here anymore.” His companions ask why, and he says, “It was not sugar, it was salt; we have eaten this homeowner’s salt, so we have no more business here.” At that time, people believed to such an extent; even thieves had honor, if they ate someone’s salt, they would not betray them.
