The promise is fidelity

Around 1974, when Taleqan became part of Karaj County, previously administered through Qazvin, the allocated government budget for regional councils was to be distributed under the supervision of representatives from various subdivisions of Karaj, including Savojbolagh, Eshtehard, and Shahriar. During discussions on budget allocation, opinions varied; some advocated for Shahriar, others for Savojbolagh, with influential individuals in the council, including the father of the Minister of Economy. My position in the council was strong due to the high number of votes I had received, enabling me to propose that the budget be spent in Taleqan, newly added to Karaj. I argued it would benefit the residents to see tangible advantages from this inclusion.

Taleqan is flanked by two rivers that merge within the county, offering a prime location for development. I suggested creating a residential complex in this area. To gain approval and funding for this project, we invited the governor and other officials to Taleqan. With the help of Mr. Moqimi from the Taleqan Cultural Office, we organized a warm welcome for the governor, involving local students holding wildflowers, which significantly impressed him. Eventually, the project was approved, recognizing Taleqan’s deserving need over other areas. The residential complex, complete with schools, mosques, and clinics, was built, strengthening my rapport with the Taleqan community, for whom I also managed to secure additional flour quotas. During the parliamentary elections of that year, Karaj had three candidates. Mr. Jazayeri, unfamiliar to many in Karaj, sought my support. Despite my initial reluctance due to prior commitments, I agreed to accompany him to Taleqan. Upon our arrival, we faced an awkward situation due to a lack of initial reception, which was later resolved by Mr. Moqimi’s arrival with a large group. At the community hall, after explaining our lack of acquaintance with Mr. Jazayeri, Mr. Moqimi declared their support for him, solely based on his association with me, guaranteeing him all of Taleqan’s five thousand votes. This endorsement was pivotal, as Mr. Jazayeri secured exactly these votes in Taleqan, contributing significantly to his overall victory in the elections. This experience represents the value of sincere service and the deep respect and loyalty I had earned from the people of Taleqan.
